PLB nets planning for contest-winning Merchant Taylor school scheme
[First look + plans] ArchitecturePLB has won planning permission for a new design and technology building at Merchant Taylors’ School in Northwood, Middlesex
The scheme is part of a wider masterplan for the campus by the studio.
The new building is located next to an original Grade II-listed school building and is planned to act as a bridge between two halves of the campus.
ArchitecturePLB were awarded the project following an RIBA-run competition in late 2010.
The company worked with Max Fordham to create a sustainability matrix for the project and achieve better building performance.
ArchitecturePLB’s masterplan sets out a phased programme of refurbishments and new builds to meet the private day school’s needs for the next two decades.
Merchant Taylors’ School relocated to the area from the City of London in 1933.
