Paul Davis lands place on BRE Passivhaus shortlist

Paul Davis + Partners working with Prewett Bizley is among six design teams shortlisted in the BRE’s contest to design experimental Passivhaus social housing in Watford, Hertfordshire

The other finalists include bere:architects, local practice Good Architecture, green consultancy PassivHaus Design Solutions, Austrian practice ah3 architects, and London-based Sustainable By Design.

The winning team will design a pair of semi-detached homes which will be built on the BRE’s Innovation Park (pictured).

The homes must achieve Passivhaus certification and Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4. The contest is focused on finding new forms of green social housing.

Representatives from Germany’s Passivhaus Institute will sit on the competition judging panel, which will announce a winner at the end of this month (Janaury 2012). Construction is planned to start in spring 2012.

Results from the project’s testing and evaluation will be presented at a BRE conference in autumn 2012.
