Panter Hudspith scoops planning for Elephant & Castle tower

Panter Hudspith Architects has bagged planning permission for this 22-storey skyscraper close to Elephant & Castle in south London

The project was approved by Southwark Council’s planning committee last night (7 June), ending months of uncertainty caused by objections from neighbours, including owners of the world famous night club Ministry of Sound.

Panter Hudspith Architects’ mixed-use scheme features 38 new homes, arranged in 34 flats and 4 duplexes, alongside two floors of offices at mezzanine and first floor level.

The design, which was originally submitted for planning in late 2009 (see AJ 06.11.09) also includes a small café or kiosk unit at ground floor level.

The practice confirmed it expected construction of the 67 metre-tall triangular scheme to commence shortly.
