Panellists sought for Olympic legacy review panel

The London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) is seeking new panellists for its Quality Review Panel

Experts are needed in public space and landscape design; sustainability, inclusive design and housing design.

The panel focusses on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and surrounding area in east London and currently has 16 members.

Key functions of the group include testing the fundamental design principles of planning proposals both at pre-application stage and as part of the application process itself.

Projects scrutinised by the committee so far include GMW’s iCity data centre scheme and the Make-masterplanned Chobham Manor residential neighbourhood.

The 9.3 hectare scheme (pictured) – designed by Make with PRP, Haworth Tompkins, Nord, Karakusevic Carson and Muf – was submitted to London Legacy Development Corporation planners last month.

Quality Review Panel chair Peter Studdert said: ‘The Quality Review Panel plays an important role in helping the Legacy Corporation achieve the highest possible quality standards in the new developments that are coming forward within Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and the surrounding neighbourhoods.

‘We assess design quality in the round, and don’t just look at the aesthetic appearance of proposals, so we’re looking for people from a wide range of disciplines who can make a positive contribution to our work based on real practical experience.’

Applications should be addressed to Fortismere Associates which manages the panel.

Applicants should send a CV including two referees, and a covering letter outlining the contribution they could make to the panel to LLDC@fortismere-associates.co.uk

The deadline for applications is 5pm on Friday 5 July.
