Page\Park to float alternative Tesco plans in Glasgow

Page\Park Architects has been commissioned by campaigners to draw up alternative designs for a Tesco supermarket in Milngavie, Glasgow

The practice will draw up a 16-page booklet for We Like Milngavie to use in its bid to make the supermarket giant rethink its proposals to enlarge an existing store on the site.

Tesco is currently consulting with a view to resubmitting plans for the expansion after an initial application was refused by East Dunbartonshire Council in April 2010.

A letter from the architects to the campaign group said: ‘By developing a public realm strategy for this part of Milngavie and presenting this positively and with some professional authority, we believe there is the potential to achieve movement on the part of Tesco so that they address issues of urban design, setting and perception in a much more positive manner.’

Tesco said it was happy to meet with the campaign group as part of the consultation process.
