ORMS scoops planning for Millennium Bridge House overhaul

ORMS has won planning permission for the £35 million overhaul of Richard Seifert’s Millennium Bridge House in the City of London

The 20,000m2 mixed-use scheme falls within the St Paul’s Height Control Area and will be shorter than the pediments and finials of the existing block.

Featuring 17,450m2 of office space, the development also includes a roof terrace, a new restaurant and a café.

John McRae of ORMS said: ‘This has been an opportunity to reinstate the line of the river frontage and the view of the entire entablature of St Paul’s from the south bank of the river. We have created a calm, elegant façade that creates an appropriate foreground to St Paul’s Cathedral.’

The project includes new façades, improved entrances and a new central circulation ‘spine’.
