Norman Foster: Party organiser extraordinaire

After hearing about eminent publisher George Weidenfeld’s 90th birthday celebrations last weekend, Astragal is wondering how he might get Norman Foster to host his birthday party too

Deeming his house too small to host 400 guests, Foster designed and built a pavilion on stilts in the Swiss countryside especially for the bash. Despite the exclusivity of the do, even the people of Geneva were able to take part in the festivities – a splendid show of fireworks was supposedly seen in the centre of town 20 miles away.
