Nightingale wins £6.4m Oxford academy job

[First look + plans] Nightingale Associates with Kier Construction has been appointed to design a £6.4 million extension and refurbishment to the Oxford Spires Academy

The team beat ADP Architecture with Willmott Dixon in a two-stage tender to win the project which was procured through the academies framework.

The scheme’s new build element contains ICT teaching facilities and breakout spaces while refurbishment of the school’s existing three-storey building will provide classrooms and art gallery.

Oxfordshire County Council’s cabinet member for education, councillor Melinda Tilley said: ‘The refurbishment and new building works at the Oxford Spires Academy will really benefit the existing school and provide pupils with excellent up-to-date facilities.’

Work is due to be completed in September 2013.
