Nightingale cast-offs set up new studio

Two former directors of Nightingale Associates have set up on their own after being let go following the closure of four of the healthcare giant’s 12 UK offices

Bernard Doyle and Andrew Heason, who were both ‘main board directors’, took redundancy packages this summer and have now joined forces to form View Architects.

The new outfit has offices in Bristol and Oxford and will focus on education projects.

Practice principal Heason said: ‘Our intention is to remain unashamedly small and agile with perhaps no more than 20 [staff] or so.

‘This is quiet deliberate so that both Bernard and myself can remain in full control of View – and remain very close to all the work we do. Our clients will always have a full director or the practice involved with all aspects of their project.’

According to the firm, View is already beginning to form associations with other major design led practices and looking at several new significant design-led opportunities.’
