Where have you come from? We met at Cambridge University and went on to study separately at Columbia University, the Architectural Association and Princeton University. Our office grew out of oppositions between architectural discourse in the UK and the US, more precisely between context and form.
What work do you have? We are taking this theme of oppositions quite literally. In Marble Arch, we split a mews house in two; in Manhattan we interlocked gingerbread men cutters for a pop-up cookie store in a hair salon; and in north London we worked with artists to explore picturesque themes in an abandoned timber yard.
What are your ambitions? We aim to produce provocative, conceptual projects, which sustain the dialogue between the US and the UK that we began in New York. We are a young, all-female team with boundless ambition – watch this space.
How optimistic are you? It is essential for emerging practices to drive the changes in the relationship between architects and contractors that will result from digital fabrication technologies. We are excited about new architectural types that have risen out of the recession in unfamiliar territories, such as pop-up galleries.
