New league table reveals UK’s greenest companies

Atkins, Land Securities and Arup are among the UK’s most energy efficient companies according to a league table compiled by the Environment Agency

More than 2,000 organisations are ranked in the survey which covers participants of the Carbon Reduction Commitment scheme. The scheme requires annual consumers of more than the equivalent of £500,000 worth of electricity to report their carbon emissions.

CB Richard Ellis, National Museums Liverpool and the Department of Energy and Climate Change are among 22 organisations ranked joint first place.

Atkins is ranked at 221 and Arup at 598 while Balfour Beatty was placed 1,199.

Companies at the bottom of the table include Berkeley Group, St Modwen and St John’s College, Oxford.
