New £260m Anfield masterplan by Shedkm and FVMA unveiled

A new £260million regeneration plan by shedkm and FVMA for Anfield has been unveiled

The masterplan for the area around Liverpool FC’s home is backed by Urban Splash and includes proposals to build 250 new homes, a 100-bed hotel, and a public square.

There are also plans for new office units, restoration of Stanley Park and a 1,000m² ‘Food Hub’ which would offer training opportunities in food production and service.

The proposals are being put to the public for the next six weeks, after which a more detailed proposal will be created which will be officially endorsed by the council.

A subsequent period of consultation will mean that planning applications won’t be submitted for any part of the scheme until next year.

Joe Anderson, Mayor of Liverpool said the plans would ‘deliver a step-change in quality of life for many thousands of people and [would] be of major benefit to the city, not just Anfield.’

Liverpool FC announced in October that it would be adding 15,000 seats to the existing stadium rather than building a new stadium, and has been working with London-based practice KSS on the scheme.

However, although the masterplan does envisage the development of the football stadium, much of the scheme can be implemented independently of the stadium.

Ian Ayre, managing director of Liverpool FC said: ‘This is [an] important milestone as we seek to investigate the feasibility of expanding our stadium. We will continue this work, which is just one part of the wider Anfield vision.’

He added: ‘We have always said that any stadium expansion will be subject to detailed feasibility studies and the community and home owners’ support which includes our ability to purchase the land for the proposed expansion. Any expansion is also subject to the club being able to navigate the planning landscape and we are pleased to say that very positive progress is being made.’
