Network Rail headquarters, Milton Keynes by GMW

Network Rail has released the first images of its new 37,000m² base in Milton Keynes

The building, which will be located on the site of the former National Hockey Stadium and near Milton Keynes Central railway station, was designed by GMW, the architects behind the redevelopment of Tower 42 and projects at Gatwick North and South terminals.

Under Network Rail’s plans, material will be recycled from the old hockey centre - due for demolition later this year - and as many materials will be sourced locally as possible to cut the carbon footprint of the structure.

Local people are being consulted on the plans; their feedback will be taken into account before a planning application is made in early November.

Chief Executive from Network Rail Iain Coucher said: ‘Milton Keynes is going places and we are keen to be part of it. We have got an exciting design for the new centre which will be one of the greenest buildings in the country and a stunning addition to central Milton Keynes.’

interesting scheme, car park looks a little big considering they probably all should catch the train to work. Anyway hope they use our mesh on the ends of the stairtowers
