Moxon bags planning for Aberdeenshire farmhouse

[First look + project data] Moxon Architects has won planning permission to restore and extend a derelict farmhouse in the Cairngorm National Park

The project which started on site last month overhauls an historic stone farmhouse north of the River Dee at Crathie.

A timber and red oxide-finished metal building will be constructed to the north of the existing structure, creating a sheltered west facing courtyard garden.

The proposed structures step down below ground level to provide additional headroom and feature a glazed southwest corner offering views of Lochnagar summit.

The old farmhouse’s southern, eastern and western aspects overlooking the Dee valley will remain unaltered.
