Morley's Olympic Water Polo Arena completed
The 2012 Water Polo Arena, designed by David Morley Architects, has now been completed in the Olympic Park
The temporary arena sits next to Zaha Hadid’s Aquatic Centre and was completed in just 13 months. After the games the arena will be taken down with elements re-used in the UK’s construction industry.
Dennis Home, chief executive of the Olympic Delivery Authority said: ‘Completing the construction of the Water Polo Arena marks the end of the Olympic Delivery Authority’s major venue work on the Olympic Park.’
Describing David Morley Architects’ design for the arena, he said: ‘The unique sloping roof design makes it instantly recognisable and, as with all our venues, huge efforts have gone into both sustainability and ensuring we don’t build venues that have no use after the games.’
