More Lakeside luck for 3DReid

AJ100 giant 3DReid has unveiled the latest in series of schemes the practice has designed for the huge Lakeside shopping centre in Thurrock, Essex

Having already submitted plans for an £180 million, 30,000m² expansion of the northern edge of the mall in January, the practice has now revealed proposals for a ‘major new leisure space’ focused around a public square.

3DReid’s head of retail, Mark Anders, said: ‘As part of our major extension to the retail element, we are looking at improvement of the public realm including the creation of a significant new leisure destination combining active pursuits, bars and cafés and landscaped spaces.

‘The aim is create a truly engaging destination for the community and visitors alike.’

The project is backed by the centre’s owners Capital Shopping Centres.
