Mitchell Taylor Workshop unwraps Swanage recycling depot

Mitchell Taylor Workshop has completed a 461m2 recycling centre within an area of outstanding natural beauty on the Isle of Purbeck peninsula

Clad using recycled local stone in gabion baskets, the £2.3 million project includes bird and bat-nesting habitats and is fully recyclable.

The use of gabion satisfied local planners’ requirement for the use of local stone and meant the scheme did not rely on masonry or wet trades.

The facility opened 18 months ago and was shortlisted for an RIBA award.
