McChesney and Atkins complete new frontage for New Scotland Yard

Ian McChesney Architects and Atkins have completed the redesign of the public realm outside New Scotland Yard central London

The scheme includes a new 23m long pavilion, clad in blue glass which leads to a basement which has been converted from an Italian Restaurant and transferred to police use.

The famous rotating sign has been moved 15m to the paved area in front of the housing ‘providing a generous space for it to be seen from a variety of viewpoints’.
