McAslan’s unwraps latest Lancaster University Campus building

[First look] John McAslan + Partners’ has completed this 4,000m² addition to Lancaster University campus - the practice’s fifth project for the institution

The four-storey, black brick and Charles Carter building for Lancaster’s management school houses ‘versatile learning and teaching environments’ and has been described as a new destination within the McAslan-designed masterplan.

McAslan director Aidan Potter said: ‘The original masterplan at Lancaster, created a subtle and well-scaled campus. In many regards our work has been to reveal and clarify this framework and re-animate the campus.’

The practice has previously worked on, among others, the university’s learning zone and the postgraduate statistics centre.
