Long & Kentish takes student residence job

Long & Kentish has won the invited contest to design a 50-room student residency for Green Templeton College in Oxford

The practice was picked from a 12-strong longlist of specially selected smaller firms, and chosen ahead of finalists Feilden Fowles, Simon Conder and Inskip + Jenkins.

The £3.5 million scheme, on a small parcel of land with very tight planning constraints’ will be part of the Rafael Vinoly-masterplanned Radcliffe Infirmary development.

Judge, and associate fellow of the college, Alan Berman of Berman Gueddes Stretton said they had ‘purposefully avoided the usual Oxbridge student housing gang’ and described the winning proposal as ‘unique and exciting’.
