London's DOS Architects wins Beijing contest

London-based DOS Architects has won an international competition to design a huge hotel, office and housing scheme in Beijing, China

The practice’s proposal, dubbed the ‘cantilevering courtyard tower’, was chosen by developer GWA (Grow Wealth Assets) ahead of concepts drawn by four other, unnamed European practices.

The 219,000m² mixed-use development in the Lize Financial Business District of the city is set to begin in early 2014 and is the outfit’s first project in the country.

Work is due to complete on the development in 2017.
