London mayor approves Make’s Croydon tower scheme

London mayor Boris Johnson has given the green light to Make’s 55-storey Cherry Orchard Road residential skyscraper scheme in Croydon, London

The £250m development will deliver around 500 homes along with a separate 165-bed hotel, 6,600m²office building, a community centre and shops.

The scheme, which won planning in July this year, is spread over three adjoining sites and includes two residential buildings which will feature both family and shared ownership housing.

Cherry Orchard Road is close to East Croydon railway station which is undergoing a £20 million refurbishment which includes the construction of a new bridge scheduled to complete in 2014.
