LEGO unveils Burj Khalifa model

LEGO has created a model of the world’s tallest skyscraper, the Burj Khalifa tower by SOM

The model – which is the latest edition to Danish toy manufacturer’s ‘Architecture Series’ – is thousands of times smaller than the 828 metre building in Dubai.

It is also the first model in its series to represent a building outside the United States.

Adam Reed Tucker, who designed the tower for LEGO said: ‘As an architectural artist my desire is to capture the essence of a particular architectural landmark in its pure sculptural form.

‘I don’t view my models as literal replicas, but rather my own artistic interpretations through the use of LEGO bricks as a medium.’

According to the company, the aim of the LEGO Architecture series is to ‘highlight and celebrate the worlds of architecture, engineering and construction through the representation of iconic and influential buildings, architects and movements.’
