Leeds Rhinos reveal stadium plan
Headingley Stadium, the home of Leeds Rhinos Rugby League Club, is to undergo a £10 million revamp designed by DLA Architecture
The club plans to transform the 120-year-old stadium under a major modernisation programme.
Plans for the stadium include a new South Stand with bars and catering facilities, a new pitch and drainage system, improved facilities in the North Stand, and a new scoreboard video screen.
Gary Hetherington, the club’s chief executive, said that while the plans look extravagant, he would not jeopardise the development of the club in order to carry out the work.
He said: ‘History has shown that many sports clubs have embarked on ambitious ground developments which have subsequently proved to be a burden and adversely affected performance of the team and club.
‘We have to ensure our development is achievable and indeed can add extra value to our organisation. In short, our plan has to be to afford the cost of these developments.’
