LDS bags planning for Hanover Square crossrail development

Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands has won planning permission for this development above a planned Crossrail station in Hanover Square, London

Sitting above the new eastern entrance to Bond Street station, the scheme will create almost 28,000m² of mixed-use space.

Preparatory works for a new ticket hall beneath the site have already started on site.

David Allen, Crossrail’s finance director said: ‘This is the first in a number of significant schemes being made possible by the new Crossrail stations.

‘Crossrail has created an opportunity to develop a new Masterplan for this prominent [0.5 hectare] site in Mayfair. The plans include a mixed use over-site development above the entrance to Crossrail’s Bond Street station in Hanover Square.

‘Sites above other Crossrail stations are being developed to ensure we take advantage of the regeneration opportunities Crossrail is bringing to London and to ensure that the new railway plays a full role in creating an improved urban environment.’

Bond Street Tube station currently handles 155,000 daily and with the arrival of Crossrail in 2018, passenger numbers are expected to increase to 225,000.

The scheme was designed for developer Great Portland Estates.
