LDS and ABA bag planning for South Kilburn masterplan

[First look] Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands (LDS) and Alison Brooks Architects (ABA) have won planning permission for this 2.09 hectare masterplan in South Kilburn, London

Replacing three existing housing estates with up to 144 homes, the project aims to ‘reinstate’ the area’s pre-war street pattern and ‘urban form’.

A new road featuring shared surfaces, play areas and gardens will create a longitudinal link through the development.

Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands’ buildings respond to adjacent Victorian ‘formal’ villas while Alison Brooks’ designs feature three building typologies of up to four storeys including apartment blocks and mews houses. The designs also feature front porches, recessed balconies and roof gardens.

The project was won in a two-stage design competition last year. The scheme is the second stage of a wider masterplan for the area which is expected to complete by 2025.
