KPF and MAKE among architects chosen for Earls Court redevelopment

The list of practices working on the Terry Farrell-masterplanned project to redevelop Earls Court in west London was revealed at MIPIM today

Practices working on the 28-hectare project include Allies & Morrison, Chris Dyson, Benoy, Higgs Young, KPF, MAKE, John McAslan + Partners, Patel Taylor, Paul Davies and Studio Egret West.

The project aims to deliver 7,500 new homes with 9.5 hectares of ‘public open space’. The scheme will also include over 185,000m² of office and retail space.

Further details of the masterplan will be unveiled on 18 March with the launch of a public exhibition of the scheme.

An outline planning application is expected to be submitted this summer with the potential for a start on site in the autumn of 2012.

If approved, the project would involve the demolition of the two Earls Court exhibition centres along with the relocation of residents living in a housing estate which is earmarked for redevelopment as part of the project.

Earls Court will host the Olympic Volleyball tournament in 2012.
