Hopkins' Macmillan Cancer Centre opens doors

[First look + plans] Hopkins Architects’ £100 million University College Hospital Macmillan Cancer Centre has opened it doors to patients yesterday (2 April)

According to the practice, the scheme in Huntley Street, central London ‘will offer the most advanced service of its kind in the UK’.

A spokeman said: ‘The centre redefines the patient experience by allowing the aesthetic and functional design of the building to complement and enhance treatments, wellbeing, rehabilitation, and cancer survivorship. It is modelled on the ‘ambulatory care’ cancer centres in the USA which means patients who do not require to have their treatment in hospital can receive it ‘on the move’.

The centre features an entire floor dedicated to the Teenage Cancer Trust Unit, whose interior was designed by AHMM.
