Holmes reveals new secondary school for Erskine

Glasgow-based architects Holmes has submitted plans for this 1400-pupil school in Erskine, Renfrewshire

Due to start on site in January 2011, the pros oped Park Mains High School for Renfrewshire Council is arranged over three levels and will house a four-court games hall, gymnasium, dance studio, fitness suite with and a multi-use assembly hall.

The brick-clad school is centred around a large, glazed central atrium which will be used as both a dining and ‘social’ area.

Craig Heap, project architect, said: ‘This flagship project reinforces the idea of the school building as an important resource, not only for the pupils and staff but for the wider community as a whole. We’re hopeful that it’s a resource that will be cherished for years to come.

‘The community, staff and pupils will experience a great deal of variety and delight as they move around the school.’
