Hodson wins go-ahead for Grimsby college extension

  • Comment

[First look + project data] Hodson Architects has won planning approval for this new £1.2 million classroom block at Franklin College, Chelmsford Road, Grimsby

Housing ten new classrooms, informal spaces and a staff base, the building is part of a larger masterplan for the college which the Cleethropes-based practice also drew up.

The scheme features a sedum roof and the teaching spaces will be naturally ventilated by ‘bringing cool air in through windows at low level and fitting monodraught windcatchers in the service zone over the corridor to expel warm’.

The project is due to start on site in November and complete next year (2012).
