HKR founder declared bankrupt

The managing director of London-based HKR (Horan Keogan Ryan) has insisted that the reported bankruptcy of practice founder Jerry Ryan will have no effect on the business

HKR Architectural Services chief Jennifer Dixon told the AJ that Ryan, who was reportedly declared bankrupt in Britain by the High Court, worked for the company but no longer owned any part of it.

Explaining the group set-up, Dixon said HKR Architectural Services has been trading as an independent company for just over four years and is not part of the Irish HKR Group.

A spokesman for the UK practice added: ‘This is a culmination of events for Jerry Ryan which started with the collapse of the Irish economy in 2008, to which he had personal exposure.

‘This is an entirely private matter for Ryan. He has no ownership interest or directorship in HKR.

‘HKR continues to trade successfully in the UK and overseas markets under the leadership of its existing directors and owner.’

HKR’s website still lists Ryan as founder, and adds: ‘Jerry has grown HKR Architects to a leading international architectural service provider both in Ireland and overseas.

‘The company has over 200 staff and offices in Dublin, London, Manchester, Belfast, Prague, Bucharest and the Middle East.’
