Henry Moore Textiles at Pallant House Gallery

Pallant House Gallery’s new exhibition shows over 100 of Henry Moore’s fabric designs and textile drawings

Henry Moore Textiles explores fabrics, drawings, four large-scale textile wall panels and two sketchbooks of textile designs, some of which only came to light in 2006.

Better known for his large-scale reclining figures and wartime sketches of London Underground, Moore created a series of images inspired by some of his better known iconography - family groups, standing figures and seated mother-and-child - that could be exhibited on walls like paintings shortly after World War II.

The exhibition, which comes to Chichester this autumn includes a 1943 drawing Textile Design for ‘Fruit and Flowers’ that will be displayed alongside its only remaining fabric partner.
