HCA establishes sustainability and design group

Tom Jestico and Nick Johnson have been appointed by The Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) as part of a new team providing independent strategic policy advice

The group’s role will be to help the HCA deliver its statutory objectives in standards of design and to embed sustainability in development. As part of its remit, the group of six industry experts will provide an impartial annual review to the HCA Board on how it performs against these objectives and how it can improve its policies and procedures.

Those also on the panel include:

  • David Birkbeck, chief executive of Design for Homes
  • Andrew Drury, managing director of HATC
  • James Pargeter, partner at Drivers Jonas
  • Neil Smith, group head of reseach and innovation at NHBC

Dru Vesty will chair the design and sustainability advisory group. She said: ‘Good design is crucial to creating great places with communities sustainable over time. This high calibre panel of experts can support and challenge the HCA and its partners as they work to deliver better homes and places to live.’
