Green light for Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands at 120 Moorgate

[First look] Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands has secured planning permission for a 19,000m² office development on the edge of Finsbury Circus in London

The 11-storey property at 120 Moorgate was designed for developer Redevco and will replace an existing 1970s building. Britannic House, a Grade II* listed building designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens, is next door.

Paul Sandilands, director at Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands, said: ‘Our response is bold, simple and textural; the development is designed to be distinctive in its own right, yet establishing a dignified visual connection to Britannic House.

‘The building holds the corner in the vertical and horizontal planes without fuss, completing the City block and enlivening the Finsbury Circus streetscape.’

The design comprises two interlocking forms, a 7-storey building facing the street and an 11-storey block that sits behind.

Construction is expected to be completed in 2014.
