GLR Architects bought out by booming B3
Cardiff-based B3 Architects has snaffled up sports and leisure specialists GLR Architects of Bradford
The move adds to the growing portfolio of B3, a 70-strong national practice that bought out another sports specialists Gibson Hamilton in 2007.
B3 bosses hope the deal will go some way towards establishing the practice as the ‘country’s leading sports and leisure consultants within the next five years’.
The outfit, which has snapped up four other firms, has not ruled out further expansion either and admitted it was looking to set up bases in Scotland, Ireland and the south coast if the ‘right opportunities’ arose.
Speaking about the latest purchase, David Gibson, B3 sports & leisure director, said: ‘Both practices are already regarded as leading consultants in the sector but I believe the acquisition of GLR adds a new dimension to our range of experience and specialist knowledge which we can offer our sports and leisure clients.’
GLR partners Paul Robinson and Jonathan Mawson added: ‘This acquisition brings together some of the most experienced sports design professionals in the business and allows us to build further on the mutual respect both companies have developed for each other as competitors.’
B3 recently completed two 25m pools with associated leisure facilities in Sunderland. Future projects include the Kirkcaldy (FIPRE) Leisure Centre, Fife (pictured above) and an advisory role on Eton Manor for the Olympic Development Authority.
