Funding promised for nearly £500m of college building projects

More than 50 colleges will build new facilities backed by over £230m in government grants

According to the AJ’s sister publication Construction News, the colleges will get £232.7million from the third and fourth rounds of the College Capital Investment Fund from the Skills Funding Agency and match it with more than £250million of their own money.

Many of the colleges will use the cash to build science and engineering facilities.

The projects include a £1.7million development at Dudley College with a workshop and lecture theatre for engineering and advanced manufacturing programmes, nearly £10million for engineering, manufacturing and electrical engineering facilities at Leeds City College, and a £12million investment at North Lindsey College including a centre for engineering excellence and creative digital facilities.
