Foster reveals re-designed Croydon scheme

These are the first images of Foster + Partners’ 93,000m² Ruskin Square scheme for East Croydon, currently out to public consultation

The project has been redesigned to accommodate a new pedestrian bridge - scheduled to open in 2013 - over the railway.

Foster + Partners’ new masterplan features a large volume of office space plus 550 Allford Hall Monaghan Morris-designed homes.

Developers Stanhope and Schroders are hoping to commence the first phase of construction in 2013 when the footbridge opens.

Fosters in 2004 bagged planning permission for an earlier scheme for the site, but this stalled when the council backed an alternative project.

An exhibition is open to the public until 15 October at the developer’s marketing suite on the 11th floor of AMP House in Croydon, south London
