First Look: UK's greenest motorway services

Glenn Howells Architects has revealed designs for its Gloucester Gateway services station, set to be the greenest in the country

The station received planning permission from Stroud Distric Council last week and will sit between Junctions 11a and 12 of the M5.

Glenn Howells says ‘We believe Gloucestershire Gateway will set a new standard for service area across the country and through its contribution to regeneration in surrounding areas, investment in local businesses and showcase for local products, it promises to be a scheme Stroud and Gloucestershire can take pride in.’

The structure will feature a grass roof, while the inside will be clad in timber and will not feature any franchises, instead focusing on food that is locally sourced and home made.
