First look: Grimshaw's New York amphitheatre

Grimshaw Architects has released new images of its Asser Levy Park amphitheatre projects on Coney Island

The $47 million project is part of a massive regeneration of the New York waterfront in Brooklyn, with the amphitheatre acting as a seasonal venue for artists and performers.

To be completed in 2011, the amphitheatre can accommodate 8,000 spectators. In total the site covers nine acres. In the off-season, much of the performance area’s seating converts to park use.
