Finally revealed: Chipperfield's plans for Portland House
[FIRST LOOK] The AJ can reveal the first image of David Chipperfield Architects’ plans to convert the 29-storey Portland House office building close to Victoria station into flats
The 101m-tall skyscraper close to Buckingham Palace, which was completed in 1963, will be overhauled to include 206 new apartments.
It is understood Chipperfield has been working on the scheme to rework the 28,000m² building for developer and land owner Land Securities for around two years.
A planning application is due to be submitted early next year (2013).

Portland House as it is today
Nearby, Lynch Architects redevelopment of Kingsgate House on Victoria Street for the same developer has started on site. In January, the practice won planning permission for a 9,798m² scheme featuring a library, 35 affordable houses and office space close to Portland House.
