Once again, Metropolitan Workshop is celebrating the Christmas season by transforming its shop front into a themed advent display
Friends of the Metropolitan Workshop, including The Architects’ Journal (pictured below), have designed handcrafted gingerbread creations for public display at the Farringdon practice.
Practice director Neil Deely said: ‘This year’s submission standards have been – so far – impressively high, with imaginative pieces from Buro Four, Adams Kara Taylor and a 100% edible design from the Victoria & Albert Museum.’
Titled ‘Christmas Wishes’, each day of advent one of a series of twenty-four pulleys lifts a stainless steel food cloche to reveal a gingerbread sculpture for exhibit.
This year’s event is in memory of colleague Rebecca Goossen, who died earlier this year in a cycling accident. Metropolitan Workshop will make a donation to the charity RoadPeace for each gingerbread entry.
