FCBS wins planning for foreign language centre

Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios (FCB Studios) has bagged planning for this £5.8 million language immersion centre at Blackfriars Priory, Gloucester

The practice landed the scheme to design a centre specialising in languages rarely taught in the UK, such as Mandarin Chinese, Arabic and Russian, in September last year.

Backed by Gloucestershire County Council, the project replaces a group of 19th and 20th century industrial buildings which themselves were built on the south-east quadrant of the Dominican priory dating back to the 13th century.

Geoff Rich, Partner at FCB Studios, said: This project re-establishes the Priory as a pioneering seat of learning which brings an element of continuity with its historical function.
