Farrell to plan Folkestone harbour

Terry Farrell & Partners have drawn up plans to redevelop Folkestone harbour and seafront

The aim is to create a vibrant public realm bringing to life the seafront with a variety of new uses. Residents are being called upon to take a leading role in drawing up the proposals.

Farrell said: ‘As design champion for the Thames Gateway, Kent, Medway and Ashford, I am thrilled to once again be part of Kent’s continuing regeneration and recognition of design and planning as crucial to future success.

‘Now is the time to bring about the renaissance of Kent’s coastal towns.’

The project will develop the significant rejuvenation work in the Creative Quarter in Folkestone’s Old Town.

Public consultations will take place this month and in June on the proposals with a series of meetings and a public exhibition.

Local schools will be invited to take part in the consultation and an online summary will be available from mid May at

Farrells were commissioned by Kent County Council to draw up a 20-year vision for the county encompassing regeneration, transport, housing, landscape and economic growth.
