Falconer Chester Hall wins Malaysian office contest

Liverpool-based Falconer Chester Hall has won an international competition to design the new headquarters of Malaysian energy firm Shapadu Group

The AJ100 practice defeated an undisclosed shortlist of local studios to land the prestigious one hectare development in Putrajaya, just south of Kuala Lumpur.

The 46,500m² project will feature a towering corporate headquarters, 300-room hotel, 145 apartments and a food and retail court.

Falconer Chester Hall managing director Adam Hall said: ‘Over the last couple of years we have gradually extended our reach from our Liverpool base – first to London, and now overseas.’

He continued: ‘This is an important and prestigious commission for us, demonstrating our ability to compete in international markets and to win significant project work.’

Studio chair Paul Falconer added: ‘We are hopeful that this commission will lead to further work in Malaysia for the group and its executives as part of our controlled expansion plans for the next few years.’
