Exhibition: The Age of the Marvellous

Featuring over 60 works of art, most of them produced for the exhibition, The Age of the Marvellous brings the Wunderkammer to Westminster

It was inspired by the Wunderkammer or Cabinet of Curiosities, which became popular during the Renaissance. The idea was that the sum of all of man’s knowledge could be represented in rooms filled with natural wonders, artificial exotica and relics or art works concerned with the supernatural.

Featured works include Hilary Berseth’s Programmed Hive, a beeswax sculpture created by placing wire in a hive for bees to build around; Polly Morgan’s at the begining, inspired by a victorian proposal for a flying machine powered by birds will be shown; and pieces from artists such as Adam russ, Nicole Bolla and Reece Jones.
