Exclusive: ReardonSmith luxury hotel plans unveiled

Plans have been unveiled for a five-star boutique hotel and luxury spa at Hersham Golf Club, Surrey designed by architects ReardonSmith

The 200 plus room hotel from developer Claudel Venture, which features a living green roof, will have guest rooms below ground level, set around a sunken garden and courtyard.

ReardonSmith project leader Sidharth Bhatia said: ‘Our aim is to design a five-star hotel that is commercially viable while being sensitive to the demands of the ecosystem.

‘Through the combination of innovative design and intelligent building technology we are replacing existing surface buildings with subterranean ones and, in effect, visually returning land to the green belt.’

The development also includes major road improvements to the area.

  • Does this actually add up, one wonders? Excavations, tanking, retention, augmented wall and roof structure, roof tanking and field drainage - all for a bit lawn so the building can be described as "sensitive to the demands of the ecosystem."
