Eric Parry wins RA’s architecture prize

Royal Academician Eric Parry has won the £10,000 architecture prize at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, sponsored by Bovis Lend Lease and supported by the AJ

Parry exhibited a model of his Stratford Towers for the London Olympic Village, made from wood off-cuts.

The jury included AJ editor Kieran Long and editor emeritus Paul Finch, Nick Pollard of Bovis Lend Lease, and this year’s architecture curator Will Alsop.

The £5,000 award for best first-time exhibitor was won by young London-based practice Studio Weave, for a mock-up of its Freya’s Cabin at Kielder Water and a model of its Inside-Out House, an entry to last year’s AJ/Urban Splash Infobox competition.

The exhibition runs from 8 June to 16 August
