East London's Fresh Wharf backed by planners

Jestico + Whiles and Glenn Howells Architects’ Fresh Wharf scheme in Barking has been given the go-ahead by the London Thames Gateway Development Corporation

The project, backed by Fresh Wharf Developments working together with Countryside Properties, includes up to 950 homes plus restaurant, commercial and residential mooring facilities. Its permission is subject to completion of a satisfactory Section 106 agreement and referral to the Mayor of London.

Fresh Wharf sits on a 4.4ha site near the river Thames in East London, opposite the development corporations planned Cultural Industries Quarter.

Construction is expected to start later this year.
