Dunbar new RIAS president

David Dunbar has succeeded Arnie Dunn as the new president of RIAS

The handover took place at the RIAS conference, which was held in Dundee over the weekend. Dunbar is also director of ADF architects and will occupy the role for two years

Speaking to the AJ, Dunbar said that he is keen to put in place schemes to encourage more membership engagement and look at ways RIAS can support members during the current economic uncertainty.

‘There is no magic wand,’ Dunbar said. ‘But we have been in discussion with [Cabinet Secretary for Finance & Sustainable Growth] John Swinney, and we are doing as much as we can to stimulate the debate.

Dunbar added that a reduction in VAT had been discussed as well as putting forward proposals to speed up the planning process.
