Duggan Morris wins go-ahead for Curtain Road showstopper

[First look + plans] Duggan Morris Architects has won planning permission for a £2 million mixed-use extension to a Georgian building on Curtain Road in east London

The scheme in Shoreditch, which features a large rooftop addition, will create around 1,800m² of commercial space and is expected to complete in late 2012.

The architect’s view

The project retains a three-storey brick building fronting onto Curtain Road, crowned by a three-storey, lightweight contemporary extension designed to complement the street morphology and embracing the changes in height and indents in the street pattern.
